20th Annual Tour de Bronx
Join nearly 6,000 cyclists on Sun., Oct. 26th for the annual Tour de Bronx, the largest free cycling event in New York State.
Registration for the 20th Annual Tour de Bronx will open mid-September.
There will be a choice to ride on either a 25 or 40-mile course through the borough’s 61 neighborhoods.
Men, women and children of all ages participate in this annual event. Every year local, national and international visitors make their way to the Bronx to be a part of the Tour.
Presented by the Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz, Jr., Transportation Alternatives and produced by the Bronx Tourism Council, Tour de Bronx promotes bicycling and pedestrian environmentally-friendly methods of travel. Each year, the ride features unique neighborhoods, waterfronts, and historic districts.
Check-in for the tour is at the Bronx County Building at Grand Concourse and 161st Street and ends with a music festival at the New York Botanical Garden.
All riders must check in on the morning of the tour.
Check-in time is 9:00 a.m. The 25-mile route departs at 10:40 a.m. and the 40-mile route departs at 10:30 a.m.
Participants can also register the morning of the ride at 9:00 a.m. at Grand Concourse and East 161st Street at the Bronx County Courthouse (near Yankee Stadium). Please arrive early to expedite the process.

The Bronx Artist Documentary Project
For the first time ever, visual artists who work in The Bronx are being documented in a series of photographs as part of The Bronx Artist Documentary Project. Conceived of by a group of Bronx artists, and with photographic expertise and curatorial guidance provided by the Bronx Documentary Center, the Bronx Artist Documentary Project is a borough-wide collaboration involving 110 visual artist who work in a variety of styles. The project will be showcased at the Andrew Freedman Home located on 1125 Grand Concourse. Opening night will be on Sat., Sept. 13th at 7:30 p.m. The Bronx Artist Documentary Project will be on display until Wed., Oct. 8th.

Birding at Bartow
On Sat., Sept 27th join naturalist and photographer Debbie Becker on a trail walk as the great fall migration gets under way with hawks, eagles, warblers, and hummingbirds returning to their winter residences. This session will take place at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum located at 895 Shore Road. Tickets for this event are $10 for adults and $8 for seniors, students, and members. Registration is required.

An Upstream Soirée
Join the Bronx River Alliance in celebrating the revitalization of the Bronx River with hors d’oeuvres and buffet supper, live music, wine and beer, and a silent auction. Celebrate the ongoing revitalization of the Bronx River with honorees Nancy Mann, Principal of Fannie Lou Hamer Freedom High School; Tim Tompkins President of Times Square Alliance and Founder of the Partnerships for Parks and Sims Metal Management, business leaders in sustainable practices to minimize impact on neighboring communities and local waterways. Join the Bronx River Alliance for the pre-party at the Zoo Center, and catch a glimpse of the new “Amazing Monitors” exhibit. Yes the Bronx Film Festival
Yes the Bronx is programming its inaugural film festival, in celebration of the Bronx County Centennial, on Fri., Sept. 19thfrom 6:30 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The aim of the festival is to support the creative community in the Bronx and showcase the borough’s renaissance.
The festival opens with a screening of The Pride of the Yankees (1942), starring Gary Cooper, who received an Oscar nomination for Best Actor for his portrayal of Yankee first baseman Lou Gehrig. This year marks the 75th anniversary of Lou Gehrig’s famous farewell speech to baseball before his death at age 37 to ALS.
The two shorts are Creative Spaces, a film produced about the Bronx Artist Documentary Project, an exhibit featuring 30 Bronx photographers documenting 80 visual artists at work in their Bronx studios, and Green Bronx Machine, a film produced by Stephen Ritz about urban farming in the Bronx.
There will be a conversation after the screening with Gary Cooper’s daughter, Maria Cooper Janis, conducted by notable film historian Foster Hirsch.
Yes the Bronx Film Festival will take place at Lovinger Theater in Lehman College, located at 250 Bedford Park Boulevard West.

20° Tour anual del Bronx
Únase a cerca de 6,000 ciclistas el domingo 26 de octubre para el Tour anual del Bronx, el mayor evento gratuito de ciclismo en el estado de Nueva York.
Las inscripciones para el 20° Tour anual del Bronx se abrirán a mediados de septiembre.

Festival de cine Yes the Bronx
Yes the Bronx está programando su festival inaugural de cine para celebrar el Centenario del condado de Bronx, el viernes 19 de septiembre de 6:30 p.m. a 11:00 p.m. El objetivo del festival es apoyar a la comunidad creativa en el Bronx y exhibir el renacimiento del condado.
