Living Fit at Bronx Terminal Market

Fitness demos and healthy eating tips will be provided at the Living Fit event.

On Sat., Jun. 15th, from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, Bronx residents are invited to celebrate the arrival of summer with Living Fit, an outdoor fitness event.

Living Fit will take place at the Bronx Terminal Market, located at 610 Gateway Center Blvd on the 6th level garage roof-deck.

Free fitness classes will be provided by South Bronx Yoga, Blink Fitness and Health First. Free food demos and healthy eating tips will also be provided along with healthy recipes to try at home.

Slow Food NYC, Morris Heights Health Center, Raymour & Flanigan, Applebee’s and Bed Bath & Beyond are among some of the on-site organizations that will offer tips on healthier living.

All activities are free and open to the public. The event will take place rain or shine.

Community Health Fair and HIV/AIDS Awareness Day

On Sat., Jun. 15th, Christ Church will host a Community Health Fair and an HIV/ AIDS Awareness Day. The event will take place at the Christ Church, located at 860 Forest Avenue (Between 160th and 161st Streets). Free on-site testing for the HIV/AIDS virus will be available. Also offered will be testing for hypertension, cholesterol and diabetes will also be provided along with free food and healthy snacks. The aforementioned tests and screenings will be provided by the Bronx Lebanon Hospital Lincoln Medical and Mental Health Center, and the Bronx Aids Center, among others.

Bronx Calling: The Second AIM Biennial

Beginning on Sat., Jun. 22nd, The Bronx Museum will showcase Bronx Calling: The Second AIM Biennial, which will be on view at The Bronx Museum, Wave Hill, and 1285 Avenue of the Americas Art Gallery. The showcase is organized by Lia Zaaloff (Bronx Museum Curator), Elizabeth M. Grady (Guest Curator), and Gabriel de Guzman (Wave Hill Curator of Visual Arts).

The exhibition will feature sculptures, works on paper, video installations, paintings, photographs, and performances by the 73 participants in the 2012-2013 AIM program . All AIM artists currently live in the New York area.

AIM artists hail from the United States, Canada, Puerto Rico, the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Chile, Spain, Croatia, Italy, Serbia, Germany, Estonia, Poland, Israel,  Japan, Korea, Hong Kong,  Nigeria, and Bangladesh.

Exhibitions and openings at all three spaces are free and open to the public.

The Bronx Museum of the Arts located at 1040 Bronx Grand Concourse from Sun., Jun. 23rd to Sun., Sept. 8th,

The Museum’s opening reception will take place on Sun., Jun. 23rd from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
