Time to #WHIN & DINE

Uptown foodies have reason to raise a glass — the official Washington Heights and Inwood Restaurant Week, dubbed #WHIN & DINE, will soon be back.
At participating restaurants on Mondays through Fridays between April 6 and April 24, diners can sample the best eats northern Manhattan has to offer at discounted prices.
Focusing on eateries between 155th Street and 220th Street, the event offers three-course prix fixe dinners for $26.95, excluding beverages, gratuities and taxes.
“This program is the perfect way to showcase the culinary treasures that exist uptown,” said Ariel Ferreira, Chief Executive Officer and founder of local marketing firm UpStep, which organizes #WHIN & DINE.
The restaurant week debuted three years ago under the moniker “Explora,” but for its second year the name was switched to #WHIN & DINE to provide better branding to the neighborhoods it served, explained Ferreira.
And the event has continued to grow since its inception.
“The first year, we had 14 restaurants participating, and this year we have 26,” said Ferreira. “We keep adding quite a few new places.”
This trend is indicative of the wave of new restaurants and bars that have cropped up within Inwood and Washington Heights in recent years.
“It’s nice that locals have so many options for food now,” remarked Ferreira. “Residents always tell me that they discovered an eatery through the restaurant week that they didn’t even know existed before.”
By visiting www.whindine.com, diners can view menus for all restaurants taking part in the event.
A special kickoff for #WHIN & DINE will be held on April 6 at Inwood’s Viva Kitchen and Bar.
Last year’s kickoff, held at District 12, drew more than 200 attendees, said Ferreira.
“The restaurant week is exciting for people who live in Washington Heights and Inwood, but it also attracts people uptown who don’t normally come here, and they discover how wonderful this area is,” commented Ferreira.
“It’s great for businesses and great for the community.”

Los amantes de la comida del norte del condado tienen razones para hacer un brindis: la Semana Oficial de Restaurantes de Washington Heights e Inwood, apodada #WHIN & DINE, pronto estará de regreso.
En los restaurantes participantes, de lunes a viernes entre el 6 y el 24 de abril, los comensales podrán degustar la mejor comida que el norte de Manhattan tiene para ofrecer a precios reducidos.
Centrándose en los restaurantes entre las calles 155 y 220, el evento ofrece cenas de tres cursos a un precio fijo de $26.95 dólares, que no incluyen bebidas, propinas ni impuestos.
“Este programa es la manera perfecta de mostrar los tesoros culinarios que existen en el norte del condado”, dijo Ariel Ferreira, director general y fundador de la firma de marketing local UpStep, que organiza #WHIN & DINE.

“Es bueno que los locales ahora tengan muchas opciones para comer”, señaló Ferreira. “Los residentes siempre me dicen que descubrieron un nuevo lugar gracias a la Semana de Restaurantes que ni siquiera sabían que existía antes”.

Una inauguración especial de #WHIN & DINE se llevará a cabo el 6 de abril en Viva Kitchen and Bar de Inwood.
La inauguración del año pasado, celebrada en District 12, atrajo a más de 200 asistentes, dijo Ferreira.
“La Semana de Restaurantes es muy emocionante para la gente que vive en Washington Heights e Inwood, pero también atrae a gente del norte que normalmente no viene a este lugar y descubre lo maravillosa que es esta zona “, comentó Ferreira.
