First Annual Sidewalk Sale
The East 233rd Street and White Plains Road Merchants Association announces its “First Annual Sidewalk Sale” to be held on Sat., Jun. 7th, from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The sidewalk sale will be held on White Plains Road between East 229th Street and East 233rd Street. The event will include vendors, entertainment, food, giveaways, face painting and much more. Residents are encouraged to attend the sidewalk sale and pick up early Father’s Day gifts. The Sidewalk Sale is produced by Re-Event Management, Inc. The purpose of this event is to highlight the Merchants Association’s interest and involvement in the community.
The East 233rd Street and White Plains Road Merchants Association, incorporated in July 2013, serves to improve the quality of life for the businesses located within the catchment area of White Plains Road between East 229th Street to East 236th Street and East 233rd Street from Bronx Boulevard to Barnes Avenue. Annual Community Fair and Caribbean Heritage Month Celebration
The Co-op City Community Fair and Caribbean Heritage Month Celebration, sponsored by the Riverbay Fund, will be held on Sat., June. 7th, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
It will be held on the Section 1 Greenway, located on 2049 Bartow Avenue. There will be food, drinks, entertainment and more.

Owls and Falcons and Skunks, Oh My!
On Sat., Jun. 7th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Bobby and Kathy Horvath of Wildlife in Need of Rescue and Rehabilitation (WINORR) will bring an assortment of rescued owls, and other birds of prey and animals for visitors to meet up close and firsthand. My Old Neighborhood Remembered
On Sat., Jun. 7th, join Avery Corman, author of Kramer vs. Kramer and The Old Neighborhood as he showcases his new documentary, based on his new upcoming memoir My Old Neighborhood Remembered. The film documentary recalls the Bronx of the 1940’s and the 1950’s. The showing will run for approximately 37 minutes, and will be followed by a brief discussion. This free public lecture will be held at the Bronx County Archives Building from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Bronx County Archives Building is located on 3313 Bainbridge Avenue.

Sail on the Hudson River
The Riverdale RiverFest will take place on Sat., Jun. 14th and on Jun. 15th. Founded in 2010, the Riverdale RiverFest is an annual community festival that celebrates the Hudson River and supports the Bronx Link of the Hudson Valley Greenway that is under development. The festival, which will take place at the riverfront campus of College of Mount Saint Vincent, is an afternoon of outdoor entertainment and environmental education for the community. Participants will have the opportunity to take boat rides on the Hudson River, listen to music by local musicians, sample different varieties of food, and learn about the Hudson River Greenway and the history, biology and geology of the area. Riverdale RiverFest is produced by the Friends of the Hudson River Greenway, along with a coalition of residents and community groups. Admission is free. Boat riders have three ships to choose from. Reservations are required.

The Rose Garden Celebration
Come June, the New York Botanical Garden’s Peggy Rockefeller Rose Garden, will be flush with the reds, whites, yellows, and pinks of more than 4,000 blooming plants. In celebration of the beauty that defines this collection, as well as the peak of its seasonal color, The New York Botanical Garden invites residents on Sat., Jun. 7th and on Jun. 8th for two days of live music, plant care demonstrations and tours with expert rosarians, and light summer refreshments in the shade of the garden’s overlooks. In connection with the “Groundbreakers” exhibition which runs concurrently, the Rose Garden Festival will feature music from the Jazz Age. The exhibitions will be open on both days from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Father’s Day Celebration at Zerega Indoor Sports
Bronxmama and Actuator Inc. presents a Father’s Day celebration at Zerega Indoor Sports on Sat., Jun. 14th from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Fathers and their children will enjoy an afternoon of handball clinics, mini tournaments, and other fun activities that will take place in the indoor handball facility. Children in attendance will also have the chance to create cards for the Hero Heart Collection, an effort by Bronx Branch Hero Helpers of America, Inc. and Heartillery Group to collect 100,000 cards and 500 care packages for American service members currently stationed overseas. Westchester Square Art Center has donated supplies for children to create the cards. This event is free. Zerega Indoor is located on 2365 Newbold Avenue.

Primera Venta Anual de Acera de la Asociación de Comerciantes
La Asociación de Comerciantes del Este de la Calle 233 y White Plains Road anunció su “Primera Venta Anual de Acera” a celebrarse el sábado, 7 de junio, de 11:00 a.m. a 5:00 p.m. La venta de acera será celebrada en White Plains Road entre el Este de la Calle 229 y el Este de la Calle 233. El evento incluirá vendedores, entretenimiento, comida, regalos, pintura de cara y mucho más. Se exhorta a los residentes a asistir a la venta y conseguir sus regalos de padres. La venta de acera es producida por Re-Event Management, Inc. El propósito de este evento es destacar el interés y el envolvimiento de la Asociación de Comerciantes en la comunidad.

Riverdale RiverFest se celebrará el sábado, 14 de junio y el 15 de junio. El festival el cual se celebrará en el campus del Colegio Mount Saint Vincent es una tarde de entretenimiento al aire libre y educación ambiental para la comunidad. Los participantes tendrán oportunidades de dar paseos en botes en el Rio Hudson, escuchar música de músicos locales, probar una variedad de comida, y saber acerca del Hudson River Greenway y la historia, biología y geología del área. Riverdale RiverFest es producido por ‘Friends of the Hudson River Greenway’, junto a una coalición de residente y grupos comunales. La entrada es gratis. Bronxmama y Actuator, Inc. Presenta una celebración del Día del Padre en Zerega Indoor Sports el sábado, 14 de junio de 12:00 p.m. a 3:00 p.m. Los padres y sus niños disfrutarán una tarde de clínicas de ‘handball’, mini torneos y otras divertidas actividades que se celebrarán en la facilidad de ‘handball’ bajo techo.
Los niños que asistan también tendrán la oportunidad de crear tarjetas de la Colección Hero Heart, un esfuerzo de Bronx Branch Hero Helpers of America, Inc. y Heartillery Group para recoger 100,000 tarjetas y 500 paquetes de cuidado para americanos miembros actuales del servicio estacionados en el extranjero. El Centro de Artes Westchester Square ha donado cosas para que los niños creen las tarjetas. El evento es gratis. Zerega Indoor está localizado en 2365 de la Avenida Newbold.
