Journey to Success Entrepreneurial Conference
The NetWorks Organization will present the Journey to Success Entrepreneurial Conference on Sat., Jun. 7th at Fordham University’s O’ Keefe Commons at the Rose Hill campus. The conference will offer workshops on success, entrepreneurship, choosing and starting a business, growing a business to the next level and social network marketing. Hear about opportunities in different fields including network marketing, franchising, sales, and more. There will be an opportunity also to win raffle prizes and leave with “Journey” bags. Cost to attend is $25 if tickets are purchased through May 31st; $40 if purchased between June 1st and June 6th. First Annual UYF Healing Arts Festival
The First Annual Urban Yoga Healing Arts Festival on Sun., Jun. 22nd at The Bronx Museum of The Arts celebrates with the “We Are Our Brother’s Keeper” theme, aligning with President Obama’s national initiative “My Brother’s Keeper,” which seeks to assist men of color access education, employment, and mentoring opportunities.
The event is a multi-cultural, multi-generational festival celebrating holistic family health through a variety of healing arts and artists. Timed to coincide with Father’s Day, the festival will also center on enhancing the role of fathers and sons in urban communities.
In addition, Urban Yoga Foundation is partnering with local museums and schools to bring awareness and sustainable health practices to the Bronx community.
The Bronx Museum of the Arts is located on 1040 Grand Concourse, and the event will take place from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The Urban Yoga Foundation (UYF) seeks to educate and empower diverse communities to be proactive about issues affecting their health. Through yoga and related holistic approaches, UYF programs provide children, parents and educators in urban communities with the tools needed to manage everyday stress and develop mind-body awareness and health consciousness.

Restaurant Management Boot Camp
On Tues., Jun. 10th from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., learn the laws and regulations of running a restaurant in New York City.
This course will help you understand all of the basic requirements to start and maintain a restaurant. To run a successful restaurant, you must know which licenses you may need, as well as how to manage your employees and expenses.
In this one-session course, topics covered include:
- How to avoid large fines by knowing the laws regarding minimum wage, overtime vs. shift pay, uniforms, worker’s compensation, discrimination, health and sanitation, and other common issues
- How to manage your employees more efficiently and effectively
- What to know to apply for right licenses and permits correctly
- How to use a new online license information system, Business Express

El Barrio: Gentrification in East Harlem
On Fri., Jun. 13th from 6:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., join the Bronx Museum Community Advisory Council for an in-depth look at the phenomenon of gentrification, as seen through changes in the largest Puerto Rican neighborhood in the United States: East Harlem. After a screening of El Barrio Tours: Gentrification in East Harlem, the floor will be opened for discussion. This event is hosted by Ed García, the founder of Welcome2theBronx.com, and Andrew J. Padilla, Director of El Barrio Tours: Gentrification in East Harlem.
Panel members will include Susana Blankley, Director of Housing Organizing at New Settlement Apartments Community Action for Safe Apartments (CASA); Ryan Singer, Deputy Director of the Bronx Office of City Planning; Edwin Pagan, member of Seis del Sur, and Carlos Rivera of Picture the Homeless. Primer Festival Anual de Artes de Curación UYF
El Primer Festival Anual de Artes de Curación de Urban Yoga, el domingo, 22 de junio en el Museo de las Artes en el Bronx celebra con el tema “Somos el Guardián de Nuestro Hermano”: alineándose con la iniciativa nacional del Presidente Obama “El Guardián de Mi Hermano”, el cual ayuda a hombres de color a tener acceso a educación, empleos y oportunidades de mentores.
Este festival familiar es un festival multicultural y multigeneracional celebrando la salud holística familiar a través de una variedad de artes de curación y artistas. A tiempo de coincidir con el Día de los Padres, el festival también se centrará en realzar el rol de los padres y los hijos en comunidades urbanas. El festival se llevará a cabo de 1:00 p.m. a 5:00 p.m.
Además, la Fundación Urban Yoga se está asociando con museos locales y escuelas para llevar conciencia y prácticas sostenibles de salud a la comunidad del Bronx.
