Annual Bronx Day
On Sat., May 31st, the New York Botanical Garden will host its 24th annual Bronx Day. On Bronx Day, Bronx residents have the opportunity to visit the Botanical Garden and participate in special events for free. The event will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the Garden’s Clay Family Picnic Pavilions. Participants should bring their lunches. Among the activities offered will be

- Health, Finance and Education Resource Information Kiosks

Plein Air Landscape Drawing
Artist Geri Smith will provide Plein Air Landscape Drawing lessons every Thursday from May 22nd to June 26th at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum. Participants will learn how to simplify gardens and landscapes into essential shapes, tones, textures, and lines, creating a personal visual vocabulary of black and white graphite drawings. All levels of experience are welcomed. Please bring a folding chair. All lessons will take place outdoors and a materials list will be provided. Registration is required. Classes are from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museumis located on 895 Shore Road.

Call Me Esteban Only
Starting Thurs., May 22nd the Pregones Theater-Puerto Rican Traveling Theater will present Alvan Colón Lespier’s Call Me Esteban Only: Part 1 of The Desire of the Astronaut. This new musical thriller is directed by Colón Lespier and features original music by Desmar Guevara. Call Me Esteban Only stars Jesús E. Martínez, Flaco Navaja, Chad Carstarphen, Shadia Fairuz, Antonio Vargas, Yaremis Félix and Meredith Burns. The work is an account of the trainings, missions, and accidents that find astronaut Esteban Only stranded in the U.S. Wanderer, an old space station now locked in orbit around Mars. The production is partly inspired by first-person accounts from the NASA civilian space program, aeronautics and aerospace research, and audiovisual records in the public domain.
The show will play every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday until Sun., Jun, 8th.The Pregones Theater is located on 575 Walton Avenue (between 149th and 150th Streets).

Bronx River Upper River Run
On Sat., May 24th, the Bronx River Alliance will host a Bronx River Upper River Run. This paddle starts at 219th Street and ends at the Mitsubishi Riverwalk of the Bronx Zoo. The paddle starts at 9:30 a.m. These trips are approximately two and a half hours on water and have one portage. On this trip, you will have the opportunity to travel south through Shoelace Park, The Bronx River Forest, The Botanical Garden, and the Bronx Zoo. The Bronx River Alliance will also offer the opportunity to paddle south for a short distance, portaging another dam, and then returning to the Riverwalk.

Start Small Think Big (Start Small) will host a workshop on Thurs., May 22nd from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. At this workshop, Start Smart will discuss:
- easy and effective money management techniques
- tips for how to avoid hidden fees and costs
- methods for setting goals and holding yourself accountable
- ways to think about money so that you realize your entrepreneurial goals
The workshop will take place at Hunts Point Library on 877 Southern Boulevard.

Día Anual del Bronx
El sábado 31 de mayo, el Jardín Botánico de Nueva York será la sede de su 24ª celebración anual del día del Bronx. Dibujo de paisaje al aire libre
La artista Geri Smith proporcionará lecciones de dibujo de paisaje al aire libre todos los jueves del 22 de mayo al 26 de junio en el Museo Mansión Bartow-Pell. Carrera Upper River del río Bronx
El sábado 24 de mayo, la Alianza del río Bronx será sede de una carrera Upper River en el río Bronx. El remo inicia en la calle 219 y termina en el Mitsubishi Riverwalk del zoológico del Bronx. Comienza a las 09:30 a.m. Estos viajes son de aproximadamente dos horas y media en el agua y tienen un porteo. En este viaje, usted tendrá la oportunidad de viajar al sur a través del parque Shoelace, el bosque Bronx River, el Jardín Botánico y el Zoológico del Bronx. La Alianza del río Bronx también ofrecerá la oportunidad de remar al sur por una corta distancia, porteando otra presa, y luego regresando a la orilla del río.
