Mini Career Fairs 2015
The New York Public Library will host a series of Mini Career Fairs in the borough in an effort to address the employment gap in a comprehensive manner. The career fairs will be held in the following locations at the following times:
- The Bronx Library Center, located at 310 East Kingsbridge Road, will host on Wed., Jan. 21st at 11:00 a.m.
- Baychester Library, located at 2049 Asche Loop North, will host on , Jan. 27th at 11:00 a.m.
- Jerome Park Library, located at 118 Eames Place (near West Kingsbridge Road), will host on Wed. 28th at 11:00 a.m.

The Francisco Mela Trio
The Francisco Mela Trio will perform Wed., Jan. 7th at An Beal Bocht Cafe. Francisco Mela, an internationally acclaimed jazz drummer, is known for combining modern jazz with the traditional music he grew up with in Cuba. Mela’s first CD, Melao, was released in 2006 and called one of the best albums of the year by All About Jazz. The Village Voice picked Melao as the best debut by an artist of 2006.
Two performances will take place one at 8:00 p.m. and one at 9:30 p.m. Tickets can be purchased at An Beal Bocht Café, which is located at 445 East 238th Street.

1040 Lounge: Artful Health
On Thur., Jan. 29th join 1040 Lounge for a screening of excerpts from The Weight of the Nation, an HBO documentary series addressing the national obesity epidemic, accompanied by a series of family-friendly health and food activities. Free admission and refreshments are provided, though donations are suggested.
Three years in the making, The Weight of the Nation is a four-part documentary series featuring case studies and interviews with leading experts and individuals and families struggling with obesity. The series spotlights the facts and myths of this urgent public health issue, showing how obesity affects the health of the nation and cripples the health care system–and what individuals and communities can do to fight it.
The Weight of the Nation is a presentation of HBO and the Institute of Medicine (IOM), in association with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), in partnership with the Michael & Susan Dell Foundation and Kaiser Permanente.
The Weight of the Nation will be screened at 6:30 p.m. on the second floor of the Bronx Museum of the Arts located at 1040 Grand Concourse.

Mini Feria de Empleo 2015
La Biblioteca Pública de Nueva York albergará una serie de mini Ferias de Trabajo en el condado, en un esfuerzo por hacer frente a la brecha de empleo de una manera integral. Las ferias se llevarán a cabo en los siguientes lugares y horarios:

El trio Francisco Mela
El trio Francisco Mela se presentará el miércoles 7 de enero en An Beal Bocht Cafe. Francisco Mela es un aclamado baterista internacional de jazz conocido por combinar el jazz moderno con la música tradicional con la que creció en Cuba. El primer CD de Mela, Melao, fue lanzado en 2006 y fue nombrado uno de los mejores discos del año por All About Jazz. The Village Voice seleccionó a Melao como el mejor artista debutante en 2006.

El jueves 29 de enero únase a 1040 Lounge para la proyección de fragmentos de The Weight of the Nation, una serie documental de HBO que aborda la epidemia nacional de obesidad, acompañada de diversas actividades de salud y alimentación para toda la familia. La admisión es gratuita y también los refrigerios, aunque se sugieren donaciones.
The Weight of the Nation una serie documental de cuatro partes, cuya elaboración tomó tres años, muestra estudios de casos y entrevistas con destacados expertos, personas y familias que luchan contra la obesidad. La serie destaca los hechos y mitos de este urgente problema de salud pública, mostrando cómo la obesidad afecta la salud de la nación y paraliza el sistema de atención, además de lo que los individuos y las comunidades pueden hacer para combatirla.
The Weight of the Nation es una presentación de HBO y el Instituto de Medicina (IOM por sus siglas en inglés), en asociación con los Centros para el Control y la Prevención de Enfermedades (CDC por sus siglas en inglés) y los Institutos Nacionales de Salud (NIH por sus siglas en inglés), en alianza con la Fundación Michael & Susan Dell y Kaiser Permanente.
