Watch the National Circus and Acrobats of the People’s Republic of China perform at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts on Sun., Nov. 8th at 5 p.m. Founded in 1953, the National Circus is one of the longest running and most distinguished circus troupes in the world. The group features a number of unique acts in their program, such as teterboarding, grand flying trapeze, contortion, juggling and more. Human Instamatic
Visit the Bronx Museum of the Arts beginning on Wed., Nov. 4th, for its latest installation Martin Wong: Human Instamatic. Human Instamatic will offer the first in-depth assessment of Wong’s formal contributions as a painter, and will also be the first museum retrospective of the artist’s work in over a decade. The installation will highlight Wong’s later years in New York City, where he played a pivotal role in the Lower East Side arts scene in the 1980’s and 90’s, a period in which he created a piece immortalizing the vibrancy of a resilient, artistic, and multi-ethnic community facing displacement. The Bronx Museum of the Art is located at 1040 Grand Concourse.

StartUp! Business Plan Competition
The Bronx Library Center, in conjunction with the Citi Foundation, will host the 7th Annual New York StartUP! Business Plan Competition on Sat., Nov. 7th from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The event looks to connect locally based startup entrepreneurs with necessary information for starting a new business and offers cash prizes totaling over $30,000. Entrants in the competition should gain practical insights about starting and growing a business, while using the comprehensive small business resources at the New York Public Library’s Science, Industry and Business Library (SIBL). Sueños de Pekín

Human Instamatic
Visite el Museo de Arte del Bronx a partir del miércoles 4 de noviembre para su más reciente instalación Martin Wong: Human Instamatic, la cual ofrecerá la primera evaluación a fondo de las contribuciones formales de Wong como pintor y también será la primera retrospectiva del museo de la obra del artista en más de una década. El Bronx Library Center, junto con la Fundación Citi, organizarán la séptima competencia anual de planes de negocios de Nueva York StartUP! el sábado 7 de noviembre de 11 am a 12:30pm. El evento busca conectar a empresarios startup locales con la información necesaria para iniciar un nuevo negocio, y ofrece premios en efectivo por un total de más de $30,000 dólares.
