Personal Statement Workshop

Ready to apply for college? Receive guidance and constructive criticism on your college essay at the Sedgwick Library starting Tues., Oct. 3rd at 4:00 p.m. In the three-session series, there will be an introduction to the application process, work on choosing the best essay topic for each student, help with overcoming writer’s block and making a strategic plan for completing the first draft. Boogie up the Bronx

Paddle along with the Bronx River Alliance Greenway Team for a friendly 23-mile ride along the Bronx River Greenway on Sat., Oct. 7th at 9:00 a.m. Cyclists will ride from the Estuary of the Bronx River to its source at the Kensico Dam in Westchester County. Registration is required at http://bit.ly/2xms6y0. The ride will start at Soundview Park Field House located at Lafayette and Colgate Avenue.

First Fridays Co-Lab

Spread your network at the Co-Lab at the Bronx Museum of the Arts on Fri., Oct. 6th from 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. Co-Lab is an interdisciplinary residency program intended to deepen local exposure to dance, celebrate the borough’s rich legacy with choreography, and foster connections to up-and-coming talent. BxMA Co-Lab dance resident Zavé Martohardjono and visual artist Shani Peters will continue their open studio series showcasing their collaborative work. Boo at the Zoo

Celebrate another year of the month-long Bronx Zoo’s Boo at the Zoo starting on Sat., Sept. 30th. The annual tradition includes a range of events and activities tailored to families and adults such as a haunted forest, a “Bootober fest” with beer, music and lawn games, hayrides, nature treks, and a show based on the childhood classic The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written by Eric Carle. HotSpot Program

Do you need internet access at home? Apply for the New York Public Library’s HotSpot Program at the Mosholu Library on Thurs., Oct. 6th from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The program helps you gain free internet access for the rest of the school year. In order to participate in the Library HotSpot Program, attendees must register for and attend a patron lending event and be prepared to present their NYPL adult library card. Boogie hasta el Bronx
