Join the Bronx River Alliance to help monitor juvenile fish popping on the Bronx River on Mon., Sept 18th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. “Popping” refers to the feeding behavior of a young alewife, when the fish leap out of the water to capture insects on the surface. Volunteers will be monitoring and counting the bubbles that emerge to determine how many juvenile alewives were born in the river. Registration is required at http://bit.ly/2f9Sb9e. Join other potential artists of the community at the Riverdale Library for a relaxing evening of still life drawing on Wed., Sept. 20that 5:15 p.m. A still life drawing is an art piece created from an arrangement of objects with complex shapes and varying textures. Artists and cosplayers are invited to a steam punk art workshop on Tues., Sept. 19th from 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 p.m. Attendees should bring their own vintage party napkins, wrapping paper or magazine cut outs to apply to surfaces of the items they are up-cycling to art.
