Get what you need at Parkchester Library on Tues., Sep. 11th at 2:30 p.m. Connect to the many resources and services New York has to offer for people experiencing homelessness while grabbing a hot cup of joe. It can be challenging to gain access to information for those in uncertain housing situations. To combat this, every month the library hosts an expert who will be available to answer questions and provide useful tips and general information. The event repeats every second and fourth Tuesday of every month. The library is located at 1985 Westchester Avenue.

Dance Party
Raise the roof at the Bronx Terminal Market on Fri., Sep. 14th at 6:30 p.m. With your fellow Bronxites, brush the dust off your dancing shoes with a free salsa lesson from instructors from Sweetwater Dance and Yoga. Borough natives Funk Salsa Urban, who blend the rhythm of salsa with elements of urban and funk, will perform their unique Latin sounds from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. to test your new dance skills. Bocce Tournament
Go for the win at Pelham Bay Park on Sat., Sept. 8th from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The annual citywide bocce face-off is back and the Bronx needs its representatives. Step up to the bocce courts with your team to take on the ancient Roman sport. The tournament is open to ages 18 years old and older. Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. and the competition begins at 9:00 a.m. Winning teams will get the chance to rep the Bronx at the Citywide Championship in Brooklyn. The courts are located south of the Orchard Beach’s parking lot.

Batman Day
On Mon., Sep. 17th at 4:00 p.m., you won’t have to be a citizen of Gotham to celebrate Batman Day at Hunts Point Library. See why the comic book character is ranked as one of the most recognizable superheroes around the world. Activities to commemorate the occasion will include Batman-themed trivia and a game of musical statues inspired by the supervillain Mr. Freeze. Win a prize or geek out with a neighbor. The library is located at 877 Southern Boulevard.

Eye on Nature
Watch art and science converge at the Poe Park Visitor Center on Tues., Sep. 11th from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Experience the interpretations of four artists on the subject of nature. Using botanical and natural science methods, the selected artists illustrated subjects to describe various species in an artistic manner. The works vary in media from colored pencil to digital to printmaking. Guest speaker Stephen Paul DeVillo, author of The Bronx River in History and Future, will offer remarks. The center is located at 2460 Grand Concourse.

Torneo de bochas
