Join fellow nature lovers and the Friends of Pelham Bay Park on Sat., Sept. 24th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. to help clean up the Orchard Beach Meadow. Volunteers are asked to wear appropriate footwear, long pants, and a long-sleeved shirt. Participants should also bring lunch and lots of water. Those who wish to join should contact Trail Committee Chairperson Clinton Robinson the day before in case of any changes. The group will meet on the southeast corner of the Orchard Beach Parking lot. Come by Poe Park on Sat., Sept. 3rd from 2:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. for a lesson in the style of Continental Knitting. The class will teach how needles should be held, how to cast on, knit and purl. Knitters will learn to create garter stitching, stockinette stitching, seed stitching, moss stitching and ribbing. Beginners are welcome to attend. Knitters will need 1 skein light colored #4 yarn, 1 pair of short knitting needles #8, tapestry needle for weaving and measuring tape.
