Canoeing at Orchard Beach
Spend a day exploring the islands that surround the Orchard Beach Estuary by canoe. Visit Orchard beach on Sat., Jul. 11th, for a tour via canoe/kayak of the Orchard Beach area offered by the New York City Parks Ranger’s Choice Program. Canoe/kayak experience is required. For ages 8 and up. Space is limited and registration is required. Participants are chosen by lottery and must have prior canoe experience.

Soundview Park Festival
Join the Friends of Soundview Park on Sun., Jul. 12th, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. for its annual celebration of the park and the waterfront. There will be free performances for all ages, family-friendly fun such as face painting, and educational programs. In addition, the festival will feature live music, an exhibition of local artists, a fitness walking workshop, boxing class and Zumba lessons.

Bronx Farms Youth Tour
The Bronx Borough President’s Office offers residents an opportunity to tour some of the borough’s urban farms. On Sat., Jul. 11th, the Bronx Farms Youth Tour will highlight the inspiring work of young people gardening in the borough. Guests will first pay a visit to the chickens and bees at Brook Park, a community garden that offers activities ranging from gardening and environmental activism, to arts and cultural events. It will be followed by a lunch at the Children’s Garden at historic Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum, and will end at the recently renovated New York Restoration Project’s Willis Avenue Community Garden. Guests should meet at the Opera House Hotel on 436 East 149th Street at 10 a.m. for pick-up by the Bronx Trolley.

Boogie Down Rides
Explore the history of the Young Lords by bike with Boogie Down Rides, in collaboration with the Bronx Museum’s Bronx Lab on Sun., Jul. 12th from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. Boogie Down Rides, a bicycling and art collective, will ride from the South Bronx to the Lower East Side for a historical tour, visiting important sites that bring to life the story of the Young Lords. Bring your own bike; helmets recommended. Guests will meet at the North Wing Lobby of the Bronx Museum, located at 1040 Grand Concourse.

Canotaje en Orchard Beach
Pase un día explorando las islas que rodean el estuario de Orchard Beach en canoa. Visite Orchard Beach el sábado 11 de julio para un recorrido en canoa/kayak ofrecido por el programa Choice de los Rangers de Parques de Nueva York. Se requiere experiencia en canoa/kayak. Festival del Parque Soundview
Únase a Amigos del Parque Soundview el domingo 12 de julio de 10 am a 6 pm para su celebración anual del parque y el paseo marítimo. Habrá espectáculos gratuitos para todas las edades y diversión familiar, como pintura de caras y programas educativos. Además, el festival contará con música en vivo, una exposición de artistas locales, un taller de acondicionamiento físico caminando y clases de boxeo y de zumba.

Recorrido juvenil por granjas del Bronx
La oficina del presidente del condado del Bronx ofrece a los residentes la oportunidad de recorrer algunas de las granjas urbanas del condado. El sábado 11 de julio el recorrido juvenil por granjas del Bronx destacará la labor inspiradora de jardinería de los jóvenes del condado. Los visitantes primero visitarán a gallinas y abejas en Brook Park, un jardín comunitario que ofrece actividades que van desde la jardinería y el activismo ambiental hasta las artes y eventos culturales. Será seguido por un almuerzo en el Jardín de los Niños en el histórico Museo Mansión Bartow-Pell, y terminará en el recientemente renovado Jardín Comunitario del Proyecto de Restauración de Nueva York de la avenida Willis. Los visitantes deben reunirse en el Hotel Opera House, situado en el No. 436 de la calle 149 este a las 10 am para ser recogidos por el Bronx Trolley.

Paseos Boogie Down
Explore la historia de los Young Lords en bicicleta con paseos Boogie Down, en colaboración con Bronx Lab del Museo del Bronx el domingo 12 de julio de 11 am a 2 pm. Paseos Boogie Down, un colectivo de bicicleta y arte, viajará desde el Sur Bronx hasta el Lower East Side para un recorrido histórico, visitando los sitios importantes que dan vida a la historia de los Young Lords. Traiga su propia bicicleta, se recomienda utilizar casco. Los visitantes se encontrarán en el ala norte del vestíbulo del Museo del Bronx, ubicado en el No. 1040 de Grand Concourse.
