Independence Day Concert
Join the Bronx Arts Ensemble at Van Cortlandt Park for an Independence Day Concert on Sat., Jul. 4th, at 2 p.m. The Ensemble showcases arts education and musical performances in the local community. This is a free event and will will take place at the Rockwood Drive Circle at Van Cortlandt Park.

Cooking with Friends
Learn valuable culinary lessons at the Riverdale YM-YWHA every Thursday, now through Aug. 6th, at “Cooking with Friends.” Led by kitchen guide Galina Levine, participants will be able to bake together and sample treats. Guests will also have the opportunity to either bring their creations home or allow them to be sold at the Y Senior Center the following day. The Riverdale YM-YWHA is located at 5625 Arlington Avenue. Classes are held every Thursday from 1:15 – 2:00 p.m.

Herbal Afternoon
Herbs add spice, flavor, fragrance, magic and health to everyday life. Join author Stephen Orr at Wave Hill on Sat., Jul. 11th, at 3:00 p.m. as he shares herbal lore and the history of its uses for culinary and medicinal plants in a lecture based on his most recent book, The New American Herbal.
Hear about favorite, uncommon and forgotten herbs, and find out why humans have brought these plants with them on their travels around the world. After the lecture, guests will have an opportunity to join Orr on herb tour of the gardens at Wave Hill and book signing.

John Benítez Latin Jazz Band
Visit the Amalgamated/Park Reservoir Housing Cooperatives Train Park on Wed., Jul. 15th for a special presentation of the John Benítez Latin Jazz Band, as sponsored by the Bronx Council on the Arts.
Born in Puerto Rico and raised in the South Bronx, the Grammy Award-winning Benítez brings his sound back to the borough for this one day event, which will run from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.The Amalgamated/Park Reservoir Housing Cooperatives Train Park is located at 98 Van Cortlandt Park South.

Concierto del Día de la Independencia
Únase a Arts Ensemble del Bronx, en Van Cortlandt Park, para un concierto del Día de la Independencia el sábado 4 de julio a las 2 p.m. Arts Ensemble del Bronx exhibe educación artística y actuaciones musicales en la comunidad local. Este es un evento gratuito y tendrá lugar en la rotonda Rockwood en Van Cortlandt Park.

Cocinando con amigos
Aprenda valiosas lecciones culinarias en la YM-YWHA de Riverdale, todos los jueves desde ahora hasta el 6 de agosto, en “Cocinando con amigos”. Dirigidos por Galina Levine, los participantes podrán hornear juntos y probar sus delicias, también tendrán la oportunidad de llevar sus creaciones a casa o pueden ser vendidas en el centro para adultos mayores de la Y al día siguiente. Tarde de hierbas

Escuche sobre hierbas favoritas, poco comunes y olvidadas, y descubra por qué los seres humanos han llevado esas plantas con ellos en sus viajes alrededor del mundo.
Después de la conferencia, los invitados tendrán la oportunidad de unirse a Orr en el recorrido de hierbas en los jardines de Wave Hill y en una firma de libros.

Concierto de John Benítez
Visite Amalgamated/Park Reservoir Housing Cooperatives Train Park el miércoles 15 de julio para una presentación especial de la banda de jazz latino John Benítez, patrocinada por el Consejo de las Artes del Bronx. Nacido en Puerto Rico y criado en el sur del Bronx, Benítez, ganador del premio Grammy, trae su sonido de vuelta al condado para este evento de un día, que se llevará a cabo de 7:00 a 9:00 pm.
