Birds of Prey
Learn how to take flight at Mosholu Library on Fri., Jul. 6th at 3:00 p.m. Encounter hawks, owls, falcons or other species up close as you explore the adaptions of these winged wonders and examine the mechanics behind bird flight. Touch raptor artifacts such as talons, skulls and feathers. You may even be able to volunteer and help with some of the demonstrations. The event is recommended for ages 5 years and older. Community Rowing
Row, row, row your boat at Hunts Point Riverside Park on Sat., Jun. 30th from 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. Explore the Bronx River abroad wooden row boats built by students in partnership with Rocking the Boat staff who taught them about the local waterways. The program repeats every Saturday until September 1. The park is located between Lafayette Avenue and Edgewater Road.

Capturing the Bronx
Check out the exhibit that seeks to explore the Bronx at the Poe Park Visitor Center on Tues., Jul. 3rd from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Photographers who are Bronx natives, residents, or workers will display their projects on the subject of the borough. Trying to document the many diverse facets of the Bronx from its demographics to its landscapes, these photographers aim to express individual and group identities. The park is located at 2640 Grand Concourse.

Inside Art
Understand art through the materials used at Kingsbridge Library on Mon., Jul. 9th at 4:00 p.m. Learn how chalk is created, paper is formed and paints are mixed. The lesson will introduce students to a variety of artistic media through their senses and students will make each from scratch. Participants will use the materials to make their own work and explore how the medium’s unique qualities affect the style of the art. The lesson is best for children in Pre-K to 1st grade. The library is located at 291 West 231st Street.

The Bronx Night Market
Mark your calendar for the Bronx’s first-ever night market at Fordham Plaza on Sat., Jun. 30th at 4:00 p.m. Stroll through the crowd of 40 food vendors and fulfill your night cravings with elote, ice cream or fried fish. You can dine and dance at the same time with music provided by DJs and local bands. Bronx-based art and merchandise will also be featured at the market, which is open to everyone. Fordham Plaza is located in front of 189th Street and Park Avenue.
