Discover the world of gears, drives, and wheels at Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum on Thurs., May 19th at 7:30 p.m. Hosted by John Metcalfe, Owner and Founder of the society Antiquarian Horologist, the workshop “Time Will Tell” focuses on the 19th Century antique clocks at Bartow-Pell, the history of clock making, and antique clock restoration and repair. Visit the Riverdale Library on Sat., May 21st at 2:30 p.m. for a conversation with fellow English Language Learners (ELLs). We Are New York is an Emmy Award-winning half-hour TV show created to help people practice English using stories about everyday situations, like going to the doctor or talking to your child’s teacher. Show organizers will host this conversation, and intermediate Level English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) learners will have the opportunity to learn English by watching these videos with other people who are practicing English. Join artists at Wave Hill on Sat., May 21st at 2 p.m. for a discussion on its latest exhibition “(Not So) Still Life”. Artists Nicole Cohen, Donna Sharrett, Nicolás Tourón and Gabriel de Guzmán, Wave Hill’s Curator of Visual Arts, will speak about the ongoing spring exhibition at Glyndor Gallery. The artists will discuss their work and how contemporary artists are transforming the still-life genre to engage with current culture.
