Fairy Godmother Initiative
The Fairy Godmother Initiative, in partnership with South Bronx NeON, will host its 8th Annual Prom Dress Boutique event on Saturday, May 2, 2015 from 10 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The program looks to help lessen the burden and cost of attending prom by providing high school girls free prom dresses. All of the dresses are donated by local vendors, individuals and shops within the community. South Bronx NeON is located at 198 East 161st Street.

Full Circle
The Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture will present Full Circle, a performance and musical collaboration, on Fri., May 2nd, at 7:30 p.m. in their repertory theatre. Hailed by the New York Times for its “choreographically sophisticated and daringly acrobatic” performances, Full Circle is the New York premiere of “Outside the Bachx,” where ballet and the music of Johann Sebastian Bach meet the world of Beatbox, DJ and hip-hop, genres with roots in the borough of the Bronx. Commissioned by the Kennedy Center and having performed as part of the CUNY Dance Initiative over the last five years, Full Circle will captivate adults and children alike.

Hagiografías
Take in the artistry of saints at the Pregones Theatre on Sat., May 2nd, with Hagiografías (Hagiographies). Hagiografías is a collage of theatrical vignettes exploring the notions of sainthood. Among the pieces on display are two pilgrims wait for a train in a ghost station in the Puerto Rico of the 1940´s and a vampire in a barbershop turns out to be a graffitero that kills and resurrects images of saints on the streets by painting over them in New York City.
Hagiografías moves between English and Spanish (as well as other real languages and invented ones) as the intention is to be experienced and understood in different ways, depending on your relationship with these languages spoken and unspoken. Hagiografías is a workshop production of Casa Cruz de la Luna Theatre Company as part of Pregones Theater ASAP program.
This show begins on Sat., May 2nd at 8 p.m.

Run the Bronx
Lace up your running shoes and head to Bronx Community College as it hosts the 37th Annual Roscoe Bronx Jr. Hall of Fame 10K on Sat., May 2nd at 10 a.m., beginning and ending on campus.
For those looking to slow the pace down a bit, the annual event also includes a 5K run and a 2K walk.
Trophies will be awarded for first, second and third place winners spanning different categories and ages.
Tickets start at $40 and registration is required.

Iniciativa Hada Madrina
La Iniciativa Hada Madrina, junto con NeON del sur del Bronx, celebrará su 8º evento anual Boutique de Vestidos de Graduación el sábado 2 de mayo del 2015 de 10 am a 5:00 pm. El programa busca ayudar a disminuir la carga y el costo de asistir a la fiesta de graduación proporcionando vestidos gratuitos de graduación a chicas de escuela preparatoria. Todos los vestidos son donados por proveedores locales, individuos y tiendas dentro de la comunidad. NeON del sur del Bronx se encuentra en el 198 de la calle 161 este.

Full Circle
El Centro Hostos para las Artes y la Cultura presentará Full Circle, una actuación y colaboración musical, el viernes 2 de mayo a las 7:30 pm en su teatro repertorio. Aclamado por el New York Times por sus actuaciones “coreográficamente sofisticadas y audazmente acrobáticas”, Full Circle es la premier de Nueva York de “Outside the Bachx”, donde el ballet y la música de Johann Sebastian Bach encuentran el mundo de los géneros beatbox, DJ and hip-hop, con raíces en el barrio del Bronx. Encargado por el Centro Kennedy y habiéndose presentado como parte de la Iniciativa de Danza CUNY en los últimos cinco años, Full Circle cautivará a adultos y niños por igual.

Hagiografías
Disfrute del arte de los santos en el Teatro Pregones el sábado 2 de mayo con Hagiografías (Hagiographies). Hagiografías es un collage de viñetas teatrales que exploran las nociones de la santidad. Entre las piezas expuestas hay dos peregrinos esperando un tren en una estación fantasma en el Puerto Rico los años 1940 y un vampiro en una barbería resulta ser un grafitero que mata y resucita imágenes de santos en las calles pintándolas en la ciudad de Nueva York.
Hagiografías se mueve entre el inglés y el español (así como entre otros idiomas reales e inventados) ya que la intención es experimentar y comprender de diferentes maneras, en función de su relación con estas lenguas habladas y tácitas. Hagiografías es un taller de producción de la compañía de teatro Casa Cruz de la Luna, como parte del programa ASAP del Teatro Pregones.
El espectáculo empieza el sábado 2 de mayo a las 8 pm.

Corra en el Bronx
Póngase sus zapatos para correr y diríjase al Bronx Community College, ya que organiza la 37a carrera anual de 10K Salón de la fama Roscoe Bronx Jr. el sábado 2 de mayo a las 10 am, iniciando y terminando en el campus.
Para aquellos que buscan frenar el ritmo un poco, el evento anual también incluye una carrera de 5 kilómetros y una caminata de 2 kilómetros.
Se premiará con trofeos a los ganadores del primero, segundo y tercero lugar, abarcando diferentes categorías y edades.
Las entradas empiezan en $40 dólares y se requiere inscripción.
