The Bronx River Alliance is inviting volunteers to help clean up the Bronx River by collecting trash along the river and assessing the collections on Sat., May 6th from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. The Alliance is looking for leaders to be the point of contact at a specific location and groups to fill the numbers at designated sites. Harness up for a climb at Wave Hill on Sat., Apr. 29th from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Children aged 5 years and up are invited to don a tree-climbing harness and ascend into the canopy of the garden’s old sugar maple trees to get a bird’s eye view of the scenery. Arborists from Almstead Tree and Shrub Care will be there to assist budding arborists as well as to answer questions about the ancient trees at Wave Hill. Enjoy the scenery at Pelham Bay Park on Sat., May 20th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The Hunter Island Hike, led by Urban Park Rangers, allows hikers the opportunity to explore the park through scenic paths and watch the sunset. In celebration of Older Americans Month, The Bronx Museum is bringing back CommuniTea Senior Thursdays starting Thurs., May 4th from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Every Thursday during the month-long event, Bronx-based artist Michele Brody will team up with Tea Consultant Jo-Ani Johnson and Chef Kareem Gonsalves to develop a unique pairing of organic SerendipiTea teas with healthy dishes inspired by the cultures of the Bronx communities.
