Remembering the Neighborhood
Visit the Bronx Library Center on Wed., Feb. 24th at 10:30 a.m. for a discussion of My Old Neighborhood Remembered by bestselling author Avery Corman. A memoir of growing up in the Bronx in the 1940’s and 1950’s, My Old Neighborhood Remembered harkens back to a sense of community that prevailed in the borough and discusses the reasons for its later transformation brought about by increasing poverty and crime. Children’s Play Space
Bring your child to a fun and safe play-time area at the Riverdale Y on Fridays from 9 – 10:30 a.m. Geared towards children 0-2, the Riverdale Y’s Early Childhood Center invites youngsters to crawl, climb, run and play in a safe indoor play space with developmentally and socially enriching activities, including singing and toys. Children must be accompanied by a parent or caregiver. The Riverdale Y is located at 5625 Arlington Avenue.

Hip Hop Kitchen
Enjoy hip-hop with a social justice theme at the Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture on Sat., Mar. 5th. Momma’s Hip Hop Kitchen (MHHK) is a multifaceted hip hop event designed to showcase women artists, especially women of color.
MHHK serves as a community-organizing platform that educates and empowers women on issues that impact their lives, including HIV/AIDS and reproductive justice. Artists include DJ Quiana Parks, Lah Tere, Rokafella, NeNe Ali, Rhyme Like a Girl and more. Hostos Center for the Arts and Culture is located at 450 Grand Concourse.

Whimsical Winter Wonder
Visit Poe Park now through Feb. 27th for its Third Annual Whimsical Winter Wonder exhibition. On view at the Poe Park Visitor Center, the exhibition features works from emerging and established artists from the Bronx. Participating artists include Rhonda Asher, Ernesto Camacho, Elaine Langer, Amarylis León, Abraham Levy, Nishanth Gopinathan, Nidhin Nishanth, Miriam Quin, and James Sexer Rodríguez.
