Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity
Visit the Bronx River Art Center on Thurs., Jan. 22nd from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as Brett Littman, Executive Director of The Drawing Center, shares insights gained during a memorable meal with the chef and artist Ferran Adrià at his famed restaurant el Bullí in 2010. “Ferran Adrià: Notes on Creativity” was presented at The Drawing Center and curated by Littman in 2014; it was the first major exhibition to focus on the visualization and drawing practices of the master chef. This discussion, part of the Bronx River Art Center’s “The Food Design Show,” will take place at the Center’s temporary space, located at 305 East 140th Street. “The Food Design Show” will be on display until Sat., Jan. 31st.

Movies at the Mansion
On Thurs., Feb. 5th 7:00 p.m. celebrate romance in February at the Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum with the screening of Brief Encounter. Set before World War II, Brief Encounter stars Trevor Howard and Celia Johnson as married Brits who fall in love after a chance encounter, but out of consideration for their families opt not to be together. Based on Noel Coward’s play Still Life, the film was released in 1945 and was directed by David Lean. Free popcorn is available. The Bartow-Pell Mansion Museum is located at 895 Shore Road in Pelham Bay Park. Registration requested.

The Escape Route Exhibition Tour
Join artist Jeffrey Spencer Hargrave and curators Isaac Aden and Joseph Ayers for a special tour of “Escape Route: Paintings and Drawings by Jeffrey Spencer Hargrave” on Thurs., Feb.19th from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. The exhibit presents a selection of works created from 2011 to 2014 by Hargrave. The “Artist in the Marketplace” alumnus presents a deeply personal body of work that incorporates painting, drawing, sculpture and video exploring the dynamics between race, sexuality and religion in relation to his upbringing in the South as an African-American gay male. The exhibition tour is free.

Winter Workspace Workshop
Winter Workspace artist Nicolás Dumit Estévez will present an experiential workshop beginning with a mute stroll around the Wave Hill winter landscape on Sat., Jan 24th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Also in silence, visitors will be encouraged to use the sounds, impressions and mental images collected on the walk to create an individual or collaborative mixed-media artwork. Oral communication is reestablished toward the end of the session, in time for a conversation on the work generated and on the overall experience. Hot ginger tea and cookies will be served. All workshops with Winter Workspace artists begin in their Glyndor Gallery studios with an introduction to their creative process. Unless otherwise noted, art materials are provided. Ages 10 and older welcome with an adult. Wave Hill Garden is located at West 249th Street and Independence Avenue.

El jueves 5 de febrero a las 7:00 pm, celebre el romance en febrero en el Museo Mansión Bartow-Pell con la proyección de Brief Encounter. Ubicada antes de la Segunda Guerra Mundial, Brief Encounter es protagonizada por Trevor Howard y Celia Johnson como británicos casados que se enamoran después de un encuentro casual, pero por consideración a sus familias optan por no estar juntos. Basada en la obra de Noel Coward Still Life, la película fue estrenada en 1945 y fue dirigida por David Lean. Habrá palomitas gratuitas. El Museo Mansión Bartow-Pell está ubicado en el 895 de Shore Road en el parque Pelham Bay. Se requiere registro.

Recorrido de la exposición Ruta de Escape
Únase al artista Jeffrey Spencer Hargrave y a los curadores Isaac Aden y Joseph Ayers para un recorrido especial de “Ruta de Escape: Pinturas y Dibujos de Jeffrey Spencer Hargrave” el jueves 19 de febrero de 6:00 pm a 8:00 pm. La exposición presenta una selección de obras creadas desde 2011 hasta 2014 por Hargrave. El ex alumno de “artista en el mercado” presenta una obra profundamente personal que incorpora pintura, dibujo, escultura y video, explorando la dinámica entre la raza, la sexualidad y la religión en relación con su educación en el sur como un varón gay afroamericano. El recorrido de la exposición es gratuito.
El Museo de las Artes del Bronx está ubicado en el 1040 de Grand Concourse.

Taller invernal área de trabajo
El artista Nicolás Dumit Estévez, presentará un taller empírico comenzando con un paseo mudo alrededor del paisaje invernal de Wave Hill el sábado 24 de enero de 1:00 a 3:00 pm. También en silencio, se animará a los visitantes a utilizar los sonidos, impresiones e imágenes mentales recolectadas en la caminata para crear una obra de arte de técnicas mixtas individuales o en colaboración. La comunicación oral es restablecida hacia el final de la sesión, a tiempo para una conversación sobre la obra generada y la experiencia en general. Se servirá té caliente de jengibre y galletas. Todos los talleres con los artistas del taller de invierno áreas de trabajo comienzan en sus estudios de la galería Glyndor con una introducción a su proceso creativo. A menos que se indique lo contrario, se proporcionan los materiales de arte. Los mayores de 10 años bienvenidos con un adulto.
