City Parks Foundation has announced the 2013 launch of SummerStage Kids, New York City’s unique, interactive family festival presenting more than 100 free performing arts events at 34 locations citywide.
This free festival will run from June 29th to August 20th in the Bronx, exposing New York City youth to the international world of arts and culture through a vast and diverse collection of engaging entertainment.
With a special season-long focus on the magical world of contemporary circus, families will get the chance to see the best circus companies from around the globe make their mark in New York City as a part of the “International Contemporary Circus Festival.” With acrobats from Finland to stilt walkers from Columbia and aerialists from New York City, there is something for everyone.
SummerStage Kids, for ages 5 and up, also features family music for a wide range of tastes such as Soul, Folk, Jazz and even a special tribute to the King of Pop, Michael Jackson! In addition to music, families will enjoy storytellers, theatre performances, juggling, poetry, fitness activities, puppetry and a host of other fun filled activities throughout the summer. The series is made possible through the support of Disney.
“We are proud to support SummerStage Kids, where kids get a chance to use their imaginations and learn about art and culture in a way that sparks their creativity,” says Leslie Goodman, senior vice president, Disney Corporate Citizenship.
