Teatro SEA presents Locaventuras

The Educational Society of the Arts (SEA Theater) celebrated two extraordinary events for culture, literature and theater: the presentation of the musical Las Locaventuras de Don Quijote as the closing of the 54th International Theater Festival of the Institute of Puerto Rican Culture (ICP, in Spanish) and the launch of the bilingual book based on this work, part of the successful “Libros-Teatro” series.
Founded in 1985, the Sociedad Educativa de las Artes (SEA) has been a pioneer in educational theater in Puerto Rico and New York, promoting cultural pride and education through the arts. Under the direction of Dr. Manuel A. Morán, SEA has produced countless shows, books and educational projects that seek to the lives of children and young people.

The multi-award-winning musical Las Locaventuras de Don Quixote, took the stage at the Luis A. Ferré Fine Arts Center in Santurce, with school performances on December 12 and 13 and a performance for the public general on December 15.

This family-friendly production, written by Manuel Antonio Morán and Radamés Gavé, is a tribute to Cervantes’ classic, adapted with humor to inspire new generations. The play combined dynamic performances, life-size puppets, original music, and a cast that will transport audiences to the magical world of Don Quixote and Sancho Panza.

“We are delighted to close the ICP International Theater Festival with a work as special as Don Quixote, and to bring its magic from stage to paper with our new bilingual book,” said Morán. “It is a celebration of our literature, art and cultural heritage.”

To complement the theatrical experience, Publicaciones SEA will launch the bilingual book Las Locaventuras de Don Quixote on December 14 at the Casa Norberto Bookstore, Plaza Las Américas. This book is the most recent in the “Libros-Teatro” series, designed so that readers of all ages can enjoy theatrical and illustrated scripts in Spanish and English. The series includes classic titles such as the “Latinized” Pinocchio and Cinderella, as well as original and traditional stories from Ibero-American culture, offering a different way to learn languages and explore cultural roots.
