New NYC Ferry landing opens in Throgs Neck
All aboard.
A new ferry landing has debuted in Throgs Neck in the Bronx.
Opened on December 28 in Ferry Point Park, the new landing extends NYC Ferry’s Soundview Route, which takes Bronx commuters to the Upper East Side, Midtown and the Financial District.
Mayor Bill de Blasio and New York City Economic Development Corporation (NYCEDC) President Rachel Loeb officially opened the landing with a ribbon cutting ceremony, which was also attended by City Councilmembers Marjorie Velázquez and Mark Gjonaj, Bronx Borough President Ruben Díaz Jr. and community members.
“The Throgs Neck ferry landing is a game changer for Bronx commuters,” said de Blasio. “This landing will provide affordable, accessible, and time saving transport, expanding transit options for all New Yorkers, further connecting the five boroughs and building a recovery for all of us.”
“The residents of the Eastern Bronx have suffered for years due to a lack of transportation access, and today the city finally delivers on its promise to increase ferry service within our community,” said Velázquez. “It will also provide new transportation opportunities to residents that have struggled with hours-long commute rides into Manhattan.”
Ferry Point Park becomes the second NYC Ferry stop in the borough, following the debut of the Soundview landing in August 2018.
The route now starts at Ferry Point Park and continues to existing stops in Soundview, East 90th Street, 34th Street, Stuyvesant Cove, and Wall Street/Pier 11. Ferries reach Manhattan from Throgs Neck in just 25 minutes. The total travel time on the entire route is 60 minutes.
A ride on NYC Ferry costs $2.75, the same as a subway or bus fare.
“NYC Ferry has become an integral part of New York City’s transportation system less than five years since its launch, and today we’re excited to bring service to Throgs Neck to help Bronx residents reach their workplaces and other destinations faster,” said Loeb. “NYC Ferry ridership has outpaced expectations since the system first launched and ridership has recovered from the Covid crisis faster than any other mode of transit. We are proud this system is serving all five boroughs with safe, reliable, daily service, as we keep more New Yorkers with limited public transportation options moving.”
The city is also expanding NYC Ferry service to Coney Island in Brooklyn as well as adding year-round service to Governor’s Island.
“Ferry service in Throgs Neck will provide commuters and visitors alike, an efficient and fun way to get from point A to point B and also explore The Bronx,” said Díaz. “I thank NYCEDC and the administration for their work to expand ferry service to Throgs Neck.”

Nuevo embarcadero de ferry de NYC abre en Throgs Neck

Un nuevo ferry ha debutado en Throgs Neck en el Bronx.
Inaugurado el 28 de diciembre en Ferry Point Park, el nuevo embarcadero extiende la ruta Soundview de NYC Ferry, que lleva a los pasajeros del Bronx al Upper East Side, Midtown y el distrito financiero.
El alcalde Bill de Blasio y la presidenta de la Corporación de Desarrollo Económico de la ciudad de Nueva York (NYCEDC, por sus siglas en inglés), Rachel Loeb, inauguraron oficialmente el embarcadero con una ceremonia de corte de cinta, a la que también asistieron los concejales Marjorie Velázquez y Mark Gjonaj, el presidente del condado del Bronx, Rubén Díaz Jr., y miembros de la comunidad.
“El embarcadero del ferry de Throgs Neck es revolucionario para los pasajeros del Bronx”, dijo de Blasio. “Proporcionará un transporte asequible, accesible y que ahorrará tiempo, al tiempo que amplía las opciones de transporte para todos los neoyorquinos, conectando aún más los cinco condados y construyendo una recuperación para todos nosotros”.
“Los residentes del este del Bronx han sufrido durante años debido a la falta de acceso al transporte, y hoy la ciudad finalmente cumple su promesa de aumentar el servicio de ferry dentro de nuestra comunidad”, dijo Velázquez. “También brindará nuevas oportunidades de transporte a los residentes que sufren viajes diarios de horas a Manhattan”.
Ferry Point Park se convierte en la segunda parada de NYC Ferry en el distrito, luego del debut del embarcadero de Soundview en agosto de 2018.
La ruta ahora comienza en Ferry Point Park y continúa hasta las paradas existentes en Soundview, la calle 90 este, la calle 34, Stuyvesant Cove y Wall Street/Pier 11. Los ferries llegan a Manhattan desde Throgs Neck en solo 25 minutos. El tiempo total de viaje en toda la ruta es de 60 minutos.
Un viaje en NYC Ferry cuesta $2.75 dólares, lo mismo que una tarifa de metro o autobús.
Ferry Point Park cuenta con un estacionamiento mejorado que es gratuito para los pasajeros del ferry y los usuarios del parque. Un autobús llevará a los pasajeros desde el estacionamiento hasta el embarcadero del ferry.
La ciudad también está ampliando el servicio de Ferry NYC a Coney Island en Brooklyn, además de agregar un servicio durante todo el año a Governor’s Island.
