SBH Health System promotes Chief Medical Officer
As announced this past Tues., Feb. 10th, Dr. David A. Perlstein, Chief Medical Officer at SBH Health System in the Bronx (St. Barnabas Hospital) has been named Executive Vice President.
“Dr. Perlstein is a highly experienced and well respected leader who has played a major role in enhancing and shaping the culture and reputation of the medical staff over the years he’s been here,” said Dr. Scott Cooper, President and Chief Executive Officer, SBH Health System. “We believe that with him and the other additions we have recently made to our medical leadership we are well poised to meet the changes that the hospital system and medical community will face in the years ahead.”
Dr. Perlstein was named to the position of Chief Medical Officer last year.
He came to St. Barnabas Hospital in 1999 as Director of Ambulatory Pediatrics and Vice Chairman. He received his medical degree from the University of Cincinnati and completed an internship and residency in pediatrics at The New York Hospital, Cornell Medical Center. After serving an additional year as chief pediatric resident, he worked as a pediatrician in private practice.
Dr. Perlstein has received numerous medical student teaching awards and is on the faculty at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. He has also served on several New York City Department of Health sub-committees focused on immunization practices, is a member of the AHA Committee on Clinical Leadership, and serves as an abstract reviewer for the Pediatric Academic Society’s annual meeting.
While managing the hospital’s clinical operations, quality programs and medical staff, he remains clinically active.
Since 2014, SBH Health System has also named Dr. Ridwan Shabsigh, Dr. Edward Telzak, Dr. Daniel Murphy and Dr. Lizica Troneci, respectively, as its new Chairs of Surgery, Medicine, Emergency Medicine and Psychiatry.
Sistema de Salud SBH promueve a Director General de Salud
Como se anunció el pasado martes 10 de febrero, el Dr. David A. Perlstein, Director Médico del Sistema de Salud SBH en el Bronx (Hospital St. Barnabas), ha sido nombrado Vicepresidente Ejecutivo.
“El Dr. Perlstein es un líder con gran experiencia y muy respetado, y ha jugado un papel importante en la mejora y la configuración de la cultura y la reputación del personal médico durante los años que ha estado aquí”, dijo el doctor Scott Cooper, Presidente y Director General del Sistema de Salud SBH. “Creemos que con él, y las otras incorporaciones que hemos hecho recientemente a nuestro liderazgo médico, estamos bien preparados para cumplir con los cambios que el sistema hospitalario y la comunidad médica enfrentarán en los próximos años”.
El Dr. Perlstein fue nombrado Director General de Salud el año pasado.
Llegó al Hospital St. Barnabas en 1999 como Director de Pediatría Ambulatoria y Vicepresidente. Recibió su título de médico de la Universidad de Cincinnati y completó su internado y residencia en pediatría en el Hospital de Nueva York, Centro Médico Cornell. Después de servir un año más como jefe de residentes de pediatría, trabajó como pediatra en la práctica privada.
El Dr. Perlstein ha recibido numerosos premios a la enseñanza de la medicina y forma parte del cuerpo docente del Albert Einstein College of Medicine. También se ha desempeñado en varios subcomités centrados en las prácticas de inmunización del Departamento de Salud de la ciudad de Nueva York, es miembro del Comité AHA sobre Liderazgo Clínico y participa como un revisor abstracto de la reunión anual de la Sociedad Académica de Pediatría.
Si bien gestiona las operaciones clínicas del hospital, los programas de calidad y el personal médico, permanece clínicamente activo.
