On August 9, 2019, children from Police Athletic League (PAL) centers in the Bronx participated in PAL’s citywide Cultural Day at PAL’s New South Bronx Center and nearby Bill Rainey Park.
More than 350 third and fourth graders studied the theme of “Traveling through Time” during the summer. Projects ranged in focus from Ancient China to the Harlem Renaissance.
The event kicked off with the Opening Ceremony and Parade of Banners before the presentation of interactive exhibits and Knowledge Bowl. Performances featuring costumes representative of specific regions and eras followed. Cultural Day provides the opportunity for young people to learn about a wide range of culturally significant periods in history, promoting unity, empathy and cultural awareness.

El 9 de agosto de 2019, los niños de los centros de la Liga Atlética de la Policía (PAL, por sus siglas en inglés) en el Bronx participaron en el Día Cultural de PAL de toda la ciudad, en el Nuevo Centro del sur del Bronx de PAL y en el cercano Parque Bill Rainey.
Más de 350 alumnos de tercer y cuarto grado estudiaron el tema de “Viajar a través del tiempo” durante el verano. Los proyectos se centraron desde la antigua China hasta el renacimiento de Harlem.
El evento comenzó con la Ceremonia de Apertura y el Desfile de Carteles antes de la presentación de exhibiciones interactivas y del Knowledge Bowl. Después hubo una presentación con trajes representativos de regiones y épocas específicas. El Día Cultural brinda a los jóvenes la oportunidad de aprender sobre una amplia gama de períodos culturalmente significativos de la historia, promoviendo la unidad, la empatía y la conciencia cultural.
