On Mon., Aug. 11th, the New York City Football Club (NYC FC) signed on the sixth player, adding central defender Kwame Watson-Siriboe to the roster.
Watson-Siriboe was traded to the NYC FC from Real Salt Lake for a fourth round pick in the 2016 MLS SuperDraft.
“I’m delighted to be reuniting with [NYC FC Head Coach] Jason Kreis,” said Watson-Siriboe. “I had a great working relationship with Coach Kreis, I’m looking forward to continuing under his leadership.”
The 6’3” central defender and UConn alum arrives in New York City after stints with the Chicago Fire and Real Salt Lake, making 19 MLS appearances for Real Salt Lake after an injury impacted his second season with the club.
“I am really happy to be able to continue my work with Kwame from my time at Real Salt Lake,” said Kreis, who managed Kwame for two seasons between 2012 and 2013.
“Kwame is the type of imposing central defender that is difficult to play against and adding him to the squad at this early point in our roster building process is fantastic,” added Kreis.
Watson-Siriboe becomes the second defender to join the Club after Jeb Brovsky was acquired from the Montreal Impact in June. Striker David Villa, goalkeeper Josh Saunders and central midfielders Frank Lampard and Andrew Jacobson complete NYC FC’s current roster.
“The management and Head Coach are building an exciting squad here,” said Watson-Siriboe.
“It’s a great challenge and opportunity for me to be part of something very special.”

El lunes 11 de agosto, el Club de Futbol de la ciudad de Nueva York (NYC FC por sus siglas en inglés) firmó a su sexto jugador, añadiendo al defensa central Kwame Watson-Siriboe a la lista.
Watson-Siriboe fue traspasado al NYC FC procedente del Real Salt Lake para una cuarta ronda en el MLS SuperDraft 2016.
“Estoy encantado de ser reunido con el [director técnico del NYC FC] Jason Kreis”, dijo Watson-Siriboe. “Tuve una gran relación de trabajo con el entrenador Kreis, tengo muchas ganas de continuar bajo su liderazgo”.
El defensa central de 6’3″ y ex alumno de UConn, llega a la ciudad de Nueva York luego de haber trabajado con el Chicago Fire y el Real Salt Lake, con un total de 19 apariciones en la MLS para el Real Salt Lake, después de que una lesión afectara su segunda temporada con el club.
“Estoy muy feliz de poder continuar mi trabajo con Kwame después del Real Salt Lake”, dijo Kreis, quien dirigió a Kwame durante dos temporadas, 2012 y 2013.
“Kwame es una defensa central contra el que es difícil jugar, añadirlo al equipo en este momento temprano de nuestro proceso de construcción del plantel, es fantástico”, añade Kreis.
Watson-Siriboe es el segundo defensor que forma parte del Club, después de que Jeb Brovsky fue adquirido del Montreal Impact en junio. El delantero David Villa, el portero Josh Saunders y los mediocampistas centrales Frank Lampard y Andrew Jacobson completan la lista actual del NYC FC.
