2014 SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
$ 66,000 in Scholarships for College-Bound High School Seniors
Applications Available At Bronx Branches and Online
Municipal Credit Union (MCU) has begun accepting applications for its 2014 scholarships. The credit union will award $ 66,000 in scholarship grants in 2014: eight memorial scholarship grants of $5,000 each and 13 grants of $2,000 each.
The scholarships are offered to college-bound graduating high school seniors. Eligibility for the MCU scholarships is open to an MCU member, a child or a grandchild of a member in good standing. Selection is based on academic performance, extracurricular and community activities, letters of recommendation, and an essay expressing personal goals. Students applying for the scholarships who are also MCU members will also automatically be entered for a $500 statewide Public Relations and Marketing Council Scholarship.
“MCU is deeply committed both to giving back to our community and to investing in our young people and their education. Our scholarship program is one way we are achieving these objectives and also recognizing and rewarding outstanding academic efforts of the youth of our community,” said MCU President and CEO Kam Wong. “We hope our scholarships will enable these students to achieve their goals and succeed in their future endeavors.”
Applications are available at MCU’s Bronx branches at 755 Co-Op City Blvd and 560 Courtlandt Avenue, as well as MCU’s Harlem branch at 280 St. Nicholas Avenue.

The deadline for completed applications to be submitted is January 31, 2014. MCU will hold a special awards reception in the spring of 2014 to recognize the eight $5,000 scholarship winners.
The scholarships are part of MCU’s long-standing, larger corporate commitment to youth education and financial literacy across New York City. In addition to these scholarships, MCU also awards valedictorian/salutatorian recognition awards to graduating high school seniors.

Municipal Credit Union (MCU) ha comenzado a aceptar solicitudes para sus becas de 2014. La unión de crédito otorgará $66,000 dólares en becas de estudio en 2014: ocho becas de estudio conmemorativas de $5,000 dólares cada una y 13 becas de $2,000 dólares cada una.
Las becas se ofrecen a los preuniversitarios graduados de secundaria. La elegibilidad para las becas de MCU está abierta a un miembro de MCU, un hijo o un nieto de un miembro de buena reputación. La selección se basa en el rendimiento académico, actividades extracurriculares y comunitarias, cartas de recomendación y un ensayo expresando metas personales.
