Africansimo--The-Buyu-Ambroise's-QuintetwebGrab a blanket and join us for a free, outdoor screening of the film Felix. Produced in collaboration with the African Film Festival. Special performance by The Buyu Ambroise’s Quintet and music by DJ Asho.

Called a South African equivalent of Billy Elliott, the award-winning film Felix tells the story of 14-year-old Felix Xaba, who dreams of becoming a saxophonist like his late father.

Location: Joyce Kilmer Park, Grand Concourse between E 161 Street and E 164 Street

Boogie on the Boulevard: Summer Sundays

Boogie-on-the-BlvdwebGrand Concourse between 165th and 167th Streets

Celebrate the Bronx’s 100th anniversary with three pedestrian Sundays on the Grand Concourse between 165th and 167th Streets. The center lanes will be closed to cars and transformed into a dynamic public space for pedestrians to enjoy free music and activities hosted by artists and local cultural, civic, and health organizations.

The Bronx Trolley: Readings & Conversations

Hop off The Bronx Trolley at the Bronx Museum and hear writer and photographer Yoav Litvin discuss his new book Outdoor Gallery: New York City, a book featuring work by 46 artists working on the streets of New York City. Yoav Litvin will be joined by Alice Mizrachi, teacher, artist, and contributor to Outdoor Gallery, who will be live painting during the event.

Walking Tour with Sam Goodman

Walking-Tour-1webBronx native Sam Goodman, an urban planner in the Office of the Bronx Borough President, will lead a tour of the Grand Concourse, the borough’s major thoroughfare on which the Bronx Museum is located. While visiting key sites, Goodman will provide a brief history of the Grand Concourse and discuss the health issues that have impacted its neighborhoods and communities.

Join us at the Bronx Museum to hear FLOW.14 artists Jessica Sanders, Rob Raphael, Dean Monogenis, and Kant Smith discuss their work. Presented by the Bronx Museum Community Advisory Council.

El carril del centro estará cerrado para los autos y transformado en un dinámico espacio público para que los peatones disfruten música gratis y actividades auspiciadas por artistas y organizaciones culturales, cívicas y de salud local.
