Much like inns of yore, there is room here for everyone.
Whether it is a three-hour Sunday brunch for your extended clan or a romantic tête a tête, set your GPS to the corner of Bronxdale and Morris Park Avenues.
There, 900Park Restaurant throws its doors wide open for all.
With three full floors, an outdoor patio space (enclosed to keep you warm during the holiday chill), and the capacity to seat over 300 diners, 900Park’s sheer size can be daunting. But step in, and you will find exposed brick walls, polished blond woods, sheer white curtains and warmly lit rooms that beckon.
Bring all the family – whatever the occasion.
One recent afternoon, Diane Maggio and her relatives were gathered for lunch, just hours after her mother’s funeral.
“People are kind [here],” explained the regular patron. “They serve you right.”
And the food, Italian at heart, earns enthusiasm to spare.
“It was cooked to perfection,” said Diane, in reference to the veal Parmesan over linguine she had ordered. Her veal was lightly fried, topped with fresh tomato sauce and melted mozzarella.
Seated beside her was her brother, Ralph Maggio.
He had ordered the same dish, which he promptly declared “delicious.”
But Ariminda Sales, Diane’s goddaughter, had broken with the trend.
She had ordered the chicken Marsala instead.
“It was really tender,” she said of her dish, which had been prepared in traditional fashion, sautéed with shallots, mushrooms and a touch of Marsala wine. “Just right.”
Her relative Madeleine Leggiero enjoyed her own chicken Francaise so much that she was opting to take it slow.
“I don’t want it to end,” she said.
As they reminisced and broke bread, the Maggio family was deftly tended to by service staff members.
“The main objective is customer service, to give customers good food and good attention,” said restaurant hostess María García, of the full restaurant staff, which she estimated ranges between 15 to 20 employees.
Busboy Patricio Calle agreed that creating an ideal restaurant experience for patrons was of paramount importance. His employers, he said, prized “quality of service,” above all employee traits.
The restaurant has been a popular destination in the Bronx, since its opening six years ago, at the same site where another Italian restaurant, Mama Maria, once stood. After an extensive renovation, the menu too was revised to embrace a fuller range of options.
There are still familiar dishes throughout the menu. There is every kind of pasta imaginable: manicotti, ravioli, gnocchi, tortellini, spaghetti, capellini, rigatoni, and more. The most popular sauces are marinara, puttanesca, vodka and Bolognese.
And the list of salads is also extensive. The restaurant’s namesake, 900Park, is a decadent combination of romaine lettuce, avocado, tomatoes, mortadella, provolone, feta cheese, pepperoncini, peppers, onions, cucumbers, olives and bacon.
The selection is dizzying, with brick-oven pizzas, hamburgers, seafood, veal, chicken, steak and lamb also served.
In addition, there is a daily special.
“Every single day,” confirmed García. “Our Lobster Wednesdays are very popular.”
An important draw too is the restaurant’s Sunday brunch, during which the place is, simply put, packed.
The brunch offers a cold seafood bar, which consists of clams, oysters and shrimp, and a full breakfast buffet. Specials orders can be custom-made.
“We’ve been told ours is the best brunch in the Bronx,” reported García.
And while reservations are suggested to cut down on the wait, everyone is welcome.
As noted the woman whose responsibility is to greet and seat, “We accommodate everybody.”

Como posadas de antaño, aquí hay lugar para todo el mundo.
Ya sea un desayuno/almuerzo de tres horas para su gente o un romántico ‘tete a tete’, ponga su GPS a la esquina de las Avenidas Bronxdale y Morris Park.
Ahí, 900Park Restaurant lanza sus puertas abiertas para todos.
Con tres pisos completos, un patio al aire libre (cerrado para mantenerlo tibio durante el invierno), y la capacidad para sentar más de 300 personas, el tamaño de 900Park puede ser intimidante. Pero entre y encontrará paredes de ladrillo, pisos de madera pulidos, cortinas blancas brillantes y salones cálidamente alumbrados.
Traiga toda la familia – cualquiera que sea la ocasión.
Una reciente tarde, Diane Maggio y sus familiares se reunieron para almorzar, justo horas después del funeral de su madre.
“Aquí las personas son amables”, explicó la cliente. “Te sirven bien”.
Y la comida, italiana, se gana entusiasmo para compartir.
“Fue cocinada a la perfección”, dijo Diane, refiriéndose a la ternera a la parmesana sobre linguini que había ordenado. Su ternera estaba ligeramente frita, con salsa de tomate fresca y mozarrella derretido.
Sentado a su lado estaba su hermano, Ralph Maggio.
Había ordenado el mismo plato, que él pronto declaró como “delicioso”.
Pero Ariminda Sales, ahijada de Diane, había roto la tendencia.
En su lugar ella ordenó el pollo Marsala.
“Estaba realmente tierna”, dijo ella de su plato, el cual había sido preparado al estilo tradicional, salteado con ‘shallots’, setas y un toque de vino Marsala. “Solo justo”.
Su pariente Madeleine Leggiero disfrutó su propio pollo ‘Francaise’ tanto que decidió tomarlo con calma.
“No quiero que se termine”, dijo ella.
Mientras lo recordaban y partían el pan, la familia Maggio fue atendida por los empleados de servicio.
“El objetivo principal es el servicio al cliente, darle a los clientes buena comida y buena atención”, dijo María García anfitriona del restaurante, de todos los empleados del restaurante, el cual ella estima fluctúa entre 15 y 20.
El ayudante de camarero Patricio Calle estuvo de acuerdo que el crearle una experiencia ideal a los clientes es de suprema importancia. Sus empleados, dijo el, valorizan la “calidad de servicio” por encima de todos los rasgos del empleado.
El restaurante ha sido un popular destino en el Bronx, desde que abrió hace seis años atrás, en el mismo lugar donde antes había otro restaurante italiano, Mama Maria. Luego de una extensa renovación, el menú también fue revisado para tener una variedad más amplia.
Todavía hay platos familiares a través del menú. Hay cada clase de pasta que te puedas imaginar: manicotti, raviolis, gnocchi, tortellini, spaghetti, capellini, rigatoni y más. Las salsas más populares lo son la marinara, puttanesca, vodka y bolognese.
Y la lista de ensaladas también es extensa. La ensalada con el nombre del restaurante, 900Park, es una decadente combinación de lechuga romana, aguacate, tomates, mortadella, provolone, queso feta, pepperoncini, pimientos, cebollas, pepinillo, aceitunas y tocineta.
La selección es amplia, con hornos de pizza de ladrillo, hamburguesas, mariscos, ternera, pollo, carne y cordero.
Además, hay un especial diario.
“Todos los días”, confirmó García. “Nuestro miércoles de langosta es bien popular”.
Una importante atracción del restaurante lo es el desayuno/almuerzo del domingo, el cual el lugar está simplemente lleno.
El desayuno/almuerzo ofrece una barra de mariscos fríos, el cual consta de almejas, ostras y camarones, y un bufe complete de desayuno. Se pueden hacer órdenes especiales por encargo.
“Nos han dicho que el nuestro es el mejor en el Bronx”, reportó García.
Y aunque se sugiere reservaciones para evitar la espera, todo el mundo es bienvenido.
Como señaló la mujer cuya responsabilidad es saludar y acomodar, “Nosotros acomodamos a todo el mundo”.
