Fare thee well

Friends and fellow members of the 145th Maintenance Company, formerly based out of the Kingsbridge Armory, bid farewell to First Sergeant Chris Perkins, 41, as he retired from service earlier this month.
As a gift of parting, fellow Army National Guard members chipped in and presented him a sword.
Perkins, a resident of Norwood, retired on Sun., Jun. 8, after 23 years of service and two tours of duty in Iraq. The ceremony was held at the Staten Island Armory, where the unit moved in November 2006.
Today, the unit has 130 members. However, less than 20 members remain form the unit’s days in the Bronx.

Amigos y compañeros de la Compañía de Mantenimiento 145, anteriormente con sede en la Armería Kingsbridge, despidieron al Sargento Chris Perkins, de 41 años, quien se retiró del servicio a principios de este mes.
Como regalo de despedida, los demás miembros de la Guardia Nacional del Ejército juntaron un fondo y le obsequiaron una espada.
Perkins, residente de Norwood, se retiró el domingo 8 de junio, después de 23 años y dos períodos de servicio en Iraq. La ceremonia se celebró en la Armería de Staten Island, a donde la unidad se trasladó en noviembre de 2006.
