2016 Cutting for a Cure Health Fair and Marathon will start this Fri., July 15th at 3 p.m. and be held through Sun., July 17th at the Barber Factory in the Bronx.
Twelve barbers from shops across the city will cut hair for 48 hours straight raising funds to provide health resources, guidance and information towards the prevention of deadly diseases including diabetes, high blood pressure, prostate cancer, HIV/AIDS and more.
This year’s theme is “I H.A.T.E.” standing for Health, Awareness, Treatment and Education. Through preventative care, healthy living and education, Cutting for a Cure is setting out to improve the challenging health statistics afflicting people of color. The marathon will provide free medical screenings, panel discussions, and access to health professionals offering expert advice on becoming healthier and stronger. Free screenings are available to anyone who attends. There will also be entertainment.
Cutting for a Cure is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization that strives to assist racial and ethnic individuals in underserved communities’ live longer, healthier lives by providing them with healthcare guidance, education and resources. Cutting for a Cure was founded by Dennis “Denny Moe” Mitchell, who is the owner operator of Denny Moe’s Superstar Barbershop located in Harlem, New York.

La Feria de Salud y Maratón Corte por una Cura 2016, empezará este viernes 15 de julio a las 3 p.m. y se llevará a cabo hasta el domingo 17 de julio en the Barber Factory, en el Bronx.
Doce barberos de lugares de toda la ciudad van a cortar el pelo durante 48 horas seguidas, recolectando fondos para proporcionar recursos de salud, orientación e información para la prevención de enfermedades mortales como la diabetes, la presión arterial alta, el cáncer de próstata, el VIH/SIDA y más.
El tema de este año es “I H.A.T.E.”: las iniciales en inglés de Salud, Conciencia, Tratamiento y Educación. A través de cuidados preventivos, una vida sana y la educación, Cutting for a Cure se ha propuesto mejorar las desafiantes estadísticas de salud que afectan a las personas de color. El maratón proporcionará exámenes médicos gratuitos, mesas redondas y acceso a profesionales de la salud que ofrecerán asesoría de expertos para ser más saludables y fuertes.
