Virtual Salon Performance Series (VSPS) for Social Change 2025

All dancers, choreographers and performing artists developing original works-in-progress are invited to apply for Mark DeGarmo Dance’s 15th Annual Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change (VSPS) 2025.
Founded in 2010, Mark DeGarmo Dance’s Virtual Salon Performance Series for Social Change (VSPS) serves to develop works-in-progress facilitated by dancer and choreographer Dr. Mark DeGarmo to support and present “under-resourced and under-recognized performing artists” across New York and beyond. Asian American, Pacific Islander, Black, Indigenous, People of Color, Latinx, and others, people with disabilities, LGBTQIA+, 50-plus, and others are encouraged to apply.
The series offers facilitated opportunity for the general public to view, engage with, and demystify the creation of original dance and movement works-in-progress of emerging, mid-career, and established artists. The program began in 2010 when DeGarmo hosted salons in his studio theater at The Clemente Center.
Selected performances will be hosted live on Zoom. Curated artists will broadcast their live performances of works-in-progress from their preferred locations and attract audiences. They must have the proven technical and marketing capacity to do so in order to be considered.
The selected participants will have their work broadcast via Zoom on the following Thursdays: February 6, March 6, and April 3, 2025 at 7 p.m.

VSPS provides an opportunity to:
- Cultivate an artistic network
- Enhance marketing skills with existing audiences
- Gain access to comprehensive feedback from new, unfamiliar audiences

Todos los bailarines, coreógrafos y artistas que se encuentren desarrollando obras originales están invitados a presentarse a la 15ª edición de la Serie Virtual Salon Performance for Social Change (VSPS) 2025 de Mark DeGarmo Dance.
Fundada en 2010, la Serie Virtual Salon Performance for Social Change (VSPS) de Mark DeGarmo Dance tiene como objetivo desarrollar obras en proceso facilitadas por el bailarín y coreógrafo Dr. Mark DeGarmo para apoyar y presentar a “artistas escasos de recursos y poco reconocidos” en Nueva York y más allá. Se anima a participar a asiático-americanos, isleños del Pacífico, negros, indígenas, personas de color, latinos y otros, personas con discapacidad, LGBTQIA+, mayores de 50 años y otros.
La serie ofrece al público en general la oportunidad de ver, participar y desmitificar, la creación de obras originales de danza y movimiento en curso de artistas emergentes, a mitad de carrera y consagrados. El programa comenzó en 2010, cuando DeGarmo organizaba salones en su estudio de teatro del Clemente Center.
Las actuaciones seleccionadas se retransmitirán en directo en Zoom. Los artistas seleccionados retransmitirán en directo sus obras en curso desde el lugar que prefieran y atraerán al público. Para ser considerados, deberán tener una capacidad técnica y de marketing probada.
Los participantes seleccionados retransmitirán sus obras vía Zoom los siguientes jueves 6 de febrero, 6 de marzo y 3 de abril de 2025 a las 7:00 p.m.
VSPS ofrece la oportunidad de:
- Crear una red artística
- Mejorar las habilidades de marketing con el público existente
- Obtener retroalimentación amplia de audiencias nuevas y desconocidas.
