And once you’ve hit the hip-hop themed eatery in Mott Haven, keep going, and keep eating.
“Savor the Bronx,” the annual culinary boroughwide celebration, was kicked off this past Mon., Jan. 7th.
Sponsored by the Bronx Tourism Council, “Savor the Bronx” will take place from January 7th through January 19th, with 37 restaurants participating.
“As a foodie, this is one of my absolute favorite Bronx Tourism Council initiatives. We get to welcome new eateries as well as welcome back some of our traditional participants,” said Olga Luz Tirado, the Council’s Executive Director. “The fun part is sampling amazing dishes from each of them. Who wouldn’t love this job?”
Tirado joined with Bronx Borough President Rubén Díaz Jr. and other officials to celebrate the Restaurant Week launch at Beastro. The event featured samples from several Bronx establishments, including Mott Haven Bar & Grill, Bronx Draft House, Gun Hill Brewing Company, Xochimilco and Emilia’s.
Typically held in November, the restaurant week is occurring in January for the first time, which Díaz said was meant to help counter the post-holiday business slump many restaurants encounter.
“This year’s list of vendors includes a diverse selection of cuisines and neighborhoods, from Italian restaurants on Arthur Avenue to City Island seafood and a Vietnamese spot on Jerome Avenue,” he said. “I’ve already spotted a couple of my old favorites on this list, along with a few that I can’t wait to visit for the first time.”

Patrocinado por el Consejo de Turismo del Bronx, “Savor the Bronx” se llevará a cabo del 7 al 19 de enero, con 37 restaurantes participantes.

“La lista de proveedores de este año incluye una variada selección de cocinas y vecindarios, desde restaurantes italianos en la avenida Arthur hasta mariscos de City Island, y un lugar vietnamita en la avenida Jerome”, dijo. “Ya he visto un par de mis viejos favoritos en esta lista, junto con algunos que no puedo esperar para visitar por primera vez”.
