LGBTQIA Candidates’ Forum
Destination Tomorrow will host a Bronx LGBTQIA candidates’ forum on Tues., Jan. 7th at 6:00 p.m.
Candidates Melissa Mark-Viverito, Samelyz López, Frangell Basora, David Philip Franks Jr., Chivona Renee Newsome, and Jonathan Ortiz are candidates vying for the Democratic nomination for the 15th Congressional race. Each has been invited to join this forum to discuss how they will address issues of concern to the LGBTQIA community in relation to unemployment, poverty, homelessness, survival sex work, fatal violence, police harassment and immigration. Destination Tomorrow is a grassroots agency located in the South Bronx that provides services to and for the LGBTQ community.
This forum will take at Destination Tomorrow located at 452 East 149th Street, Suite 3.

Stocks, Bonds, and Options
Come to Legal Hand Highbridge to learn about Stocks, Options and Trading on Thurs., Jan, 16th at 4:00 p.m. The office will be conducting this educational workshop reviewing different types of investments channels and how individuals can learn more about the stock market. Highbridge volunteer Hananiah will be delivering this workshop. This free event is open to the public and will take place at 1759 Jerome Avenue.

American Sign Language
Starting on Tues., Jan. 7th at 11:00 a.m., learn basic American Sign Language (ASL) at the Poe Park Visitor Center. Classes are open to all professionals working with special needs adults, family members, as well as anyone interested in learning ASL. Learn the alphabet, finger-spelling, days of the week, greetings, and more. This event repeats every Tuesday between January 7th and March 26th at 11:00 a.m.

Winter Work Day
Volunteer with the Bronx River Alliance on Mon., Jan. 20th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and meet neighbors and friends at a winter workday outdoors. Help winterize the beds and get a jump-start on spring maintenance at the Foodway, a pilot project at Concrete Plant Park that explores how a sustainable food landscape can be integrated into a public park. Volunteers will finish last-minute plantings and start wood chipping for the Foodway’s paths and beds. Materials and refreshments are provided.
This opportunity will take place at the Concrete Plant Park located at 1372 Westchester Avenue.

Foro de candidatos LGBTQIA
Destination Tomorrow será el anfitrión de un foro de candidatos LGBTQIA del Bronx el martes 7 de enero a las 6:00 p.m. Los candidatos Melissa Mark-Viverito, Samelyz López, Frangell Basora, David Philip Franks Jr., Chivona Renee Newsome y Jonathan Ortiz son candidatos que compiten por la nominación demócrata para la 15a carrera del Congreso. Lenguaje de señas estadounidense
A partir del martes 7 de enero a las 11:00 a.m., aprenda el lenguaje de señas estadounidense básico (ASL, por sus siglas en inglés) en el Centro de Visitantes de Poe Park. Las clases están abiertas a todos los profesionales que trabajan con adultos con necesidades especiales, familiares, así como a cualquier persona interesada en aprender el ASL. Aprenda el alfabeto, la ortografía de los dedos, los días de la semana, saludos y más. Este evento se repite todos los martes entre el 7 de enero y el 26 de marzo a las 11:00 a.m.

Día de trabajo de invierno
Sea voluntario con la Alianza del Río Bronx 20 de enero de 10:00 a.m. a 1:00 p.m. y conozca a vecinos y amigos en un día de trabajo de invierno al aire libre. Ayude a preparar las camas para el invierno y comience a trabajar en el mantenimiento de la primavera en Foodway, un proyecto piloto en Concrete Plant Park que explora cómo se puede integrar un paisaje alimentario sostenible en un parque público. Los voluntarios terminarán las plantaciones de última hora y comenzarán a cortar madera para los caminos y camas de Foodway. Se proporcionan materiales y refrigerios.
