More than 100 Bronxites from across the borough gathered together at Jacobi Medical Center of the Health and Hospitals Corporation (HHC) once again on Sept. 11th to mark the fifteenth anniversary of the terrorist attacks. Scores of community residents, members of the HHC administration, and family and friends of victims, joined on Sunday with Assemblymembers Mike Benedetto and Mark Gjonaj to remember the 144 Bronx residents who perished that day. “You want to remember only good times,” said Benedetto. “But today is a day that we should [use to] reflect upon the evil of that day.” Borough President Rubén Díaz, Jr. issued a statement that read, in part, “We must also remember the first responders of the New York Police Department, the Fire Department of New York and others. They came without reservation, without hesitation, focused solely on those who needed rescue that day.”

Más de 100 residentes de todo el condado del Bronx se reunieron en el Centro Médico Jacobi de la Corporación de Salud y Hospitales (HHC por sus siglas en inglès), el 11 de septiembre para conmemorar el decimoquinto aniversario de los ataques terroristas. Decenas de residentes de la comunidad, miembros de la administración HHC y familiares y amigos de las víctimas, se unieron el domingo con los asambleístas Mike Benedetto y Mark Gjonaj para recordar a los 144 residentes del Bronx que perecieron ese día. “Uno quiere recordar solamente los buenos momentos”, dijo Benedetto. “Pero hoy es un día en el que debemos [acostumbrarnos] a reflexionar sobre el mal de ese día“. El presidente del condado del Bronx, Rubén Díaz, Jr., emitió un comunicado que decía, en parte: “Debemos recordar también a los primeros socorristas de la policía de Nueva York, del Departamento de Bomberos de Nueva York y otros. Llegaron sin reservas, sin dudar, centrados exclusivamente en los que necesitaban ser rescatados ese día“.
